Simon Zhang leads Clean Hydrogen Works (CHW) as President & CEO, drawing over 25 years of leadership experience at BP. At BP, he held leadership roles such as Chief of Staff for BP Chemicals and Deputy CFO for BP-Sinopec Retail JV, showcasing his strategic and operational leadership in the energy sector.
Simon also served as CEO of Northwest Innovation Works (NWIW), where he oversaw the development of a $2.5 billion gas-to-methanol facility. Under his leadership, the project achieved critical milestones in permitting, financing, and contracting, despite navigating a challenging regulatory environment.
Simon holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, an MBA from the University of Chicago, an M.S. from Purdue University, and a B.S. from Tsinghua University. He also holds the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation.
