Simon Zhang brings over 25 years of expertise in strategy, business development, and technology across the energy and petrochemical industries. As CEO of Clean Hydrogen Works, he leads the development of a large-scale, integrated clean hydrogen value chain, working closely with strategic joint venture partners to advance sustainable energy solutions.
Previously, Simon founded and served as CEO of Northwest Innovation Works (NWIW), where he spearheaded the development of a $2.5 billion methanol project on the U.S. West Coast, one of the largest sustainable methanol projects in the region. His career includes strategic leadership roles at BP in both China and the United Kingdom, along with experience as a senior engineer with ExxonMobil in Houston. Simon is also the co-author of five U.S. patents focused on hydrogen-carbon processing technology.
Simon holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, an M.S. from Purdue University, a B.S. from Tsinghua University, an MBA from the University of Chicago. He also holds the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation.Back to the team
